Loom Craft

The basic mechanics of the loom have remained unchanged, despite its long history. It contributed largely to the increase in high-quality fabrics around the world. Being one of the most widespread crafts, it is seen in China, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Switzerland and Peru. The fact that it is as old as 5,000 BC means many types of this craft have developed,

depending on the technique used- whether pit loom, ground loom, frame loom, back strap, foot-treadle loom and many others. In Syria the Kurdish Rags were very famous loom products usually made in the city of Afrin of Northern Syria.
